Steve has worked in the landscape field for 17 years and has a passion for plants and the great outdoors. Back in 2003 he and a friend started a lawn care business by mowing their neighbors’ lawn. Word quickly spread in the neighborhood and soon he had a full-blown business on his hands. Today Steve focuses on landscape design, putting his extensive plant knowledge to use by creating and installing custom garden designs. He has designed and installed gardens for large estates and residential clients as well. Whenever possible, Steve will incorporate native plants into his design process, recognizing those plants have a symbiotic relationship with the soil, insects, and animals in our environment. He will also utilize landscaping lighting and hardscaping features to bring the designs to life. In 2024, he earned his Certificate in Landscape Design from Longwood Gardens. Over the years, Steve’s business has grown organically through word-of-mouth references. A large reason for this growth is his extensive plant knowledge, full service offering and clients appreciate that they can speak directly to a decision maker.
Complete Landscape Renovation – Delaware County, PA
This full-property landscape renovation transformed the front, side, and rear gardens through the removal of outdated plantings and the installation of a cohesive new landscape. The project included a complete irrigation system and professionally designed landscape lighting to enhance both plant health and evening curb appeal.
The planting design emphasizes year-round interest and ecological value, featuring standout specimens such as river birch, paperbark maple, winterberry holly, and oakleaf hydrangea. The result is a landscape that is beautiful, functional, and designed to mature gracefully over time.
Montessori School Campus Garden Enhancements
Courtyard Pollinator Garden – A mostly native planting that transformed a neglected hillside into a vibrant habitat for pollinators and an outdoor classroom for students. It features native plants with 4 seasons of interest such as penstemon, aster, goldenrod, phlox, agastache, amsonia and more.
Faculty Entrance Garden – A refreshed entry landscape designed to create a welcoming, attractive first impression for staff and visitors.
West Chester Residential Landscape:
This suburban property in West Chester, Pennsylvania was transformed with a thoughtfully designed planting plan centered around a natural slate walkway that creates a welcoming and timeless entrance. The landscape features native specimen trees, including serviceberry and witch hazel, providing multi-season interest through spring flowers, attractive foliage, and fall color while supporting local wildlife and pollinators.
Steve’s landscape design work is backed by a prestigious Certificate in Landscape Design from Longwood Gardens, one of the region’s most respected horticultural institutions. This education gave him advanced training in plant selection, design principles, garden planning, and creating outdoor spaces that feel both beautiful and intentional. Combined with his years of hands-on experience, Steve brings a thoughtful, knowledgeable approach to every landscape he designs.
Horticulture is the science and art of growing, cultivating, and caring for plants, encompassing everything from gardening and landscaping to growing fruits and vegetables, cultivating flowers, and maintaining trees and shrubs. At Garden Grove Horticulture, this understanding guides every design with intention, starting with the plants that naturally belong in our local environment. Native plants are an essential part of a healthy, thriving landscape because they support local pollinators, birds, insects, soil health, and the overall ecosystem in ways that non-native plants often cannot. When thoughtfully incorporated into a garden design, native plants provide lasting beauty while helping the landscape become more resilient, lower maintenance, and better connected to the natural world around it.
Native plants do more than add natural beauty to your landscape - they help support the birds, butterflies, bees, insects, and wildlife that rely on them for food, shelter, and habitat. Many species have a direct relationship with specific native plants, like Monarch caterpillars, which can only feed on milkweed. Native plants also play an important role beneath the surface, using deep root systems to break up compacted soil, improve heavy clay, and support the microorganisms that help release nutrients and build healthier, more fertile soil. Native plants work with your local environment, not against it, creating gardens that are beautiful, beneficial, and built to thrive.
